Chattogram City Corporation Administrator Mohammad Khorshed Alam Sujan on Wednesday said they have started working to build Chattogram a world class city.

Sujan made the remarks while inaugurating the induction of three 'sweeper trucks' to the port city fleet at the GEC junction and Dewanhat junction.

He said inclusion of the new vehicles would add a new dimension in the city’s waste management system and increase the scope of cleaning work.

Currently, the port city has 3,000 cleaning workers. These trucks will be combined with the old-fashioned waste management system to speed up the cleaning work over the time.

The Local Government ministry provided the three road sweeper trucks with vacuum cleaner to                the CCC at the direction of             Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.

Sujan said a truck brought from Italy can clean at least 12 kilometers and do more work than 20 cleaners can do altogether.

It can remove dust and waste at instant and clean road by spraying water. After collecting the waste, it will unload it at the convenient place, he added.

Executive Engineer Joysen Barua, Supervising Engineer Sudip Basak, Mirza Fazlul Quader, Additional Chief Cleaning Officer Morshedul Alam Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
