The booming e-commerce sector in our country amid the pandemic has encouraged many new entrepreneurs to start their own business. Women open new business ventures with the help of various social media platforms and are now reaping benefits from it.

Without any doubt, the revolution in the e-commerce sector has brought about an influential sense of financial freedom for women. They are now vigorously contributing to decision making and also becoming impotent leaders in society, leading to decrease in unemployment.

However, when it comes to women entrepreneurship in rural areas, they still face multi faceted problems. Therefore, the government needs to make sure that women in rural areas get economically motivated.

Private sectors and civil society should

work together for making a favorable

business environment for them

For this to happen, the government should continue providing numerous types of training to the women entrepreneurs across the country. There is a significant gap between urban and rural women when it comes to opportunities in the e-commerce sector due to their internet access and networks, including lack of knowledge, customers, suppliers etc.

So along with the ICT division, providing good internet network, various kinds of training on e-commerce should be imparted to rural women.

In this modern day and age our country’s women are playing a vital role to have a sustainable economic development through e-commerce.  Private sectors and civil society should work together for safeguarding women’s digital access and making a favorable business environment for them.
