On the day the SAFF Women's Championship team was honoured with an open-top bus parade, Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan announced a bonus of one crore taka. Eleven days later, Sabina Khatun and her team received their promised funds.
The one crore taka was distributed equally among 32 individuals, including players, coaching staff, and officials, with each receiving 312,500 taka. Asif Mahmud confirmed the cheque distribution in a post on his official Facebook page on Monday.
In Kathmandu, Nepal, the Bangladesh football squad consisted of 23 players, along with 9 coaching staff, media managers, and officials. The team leader was BFF member Tipu Sultan, who joined the team in Kathmandu before the final.
The National Sports Council issued 32 separate cheques to the Bangladesh Football Federation for the 32 recipients. Upon receiving the cheques, the federation was instructed to send an acknowledgment receipt to the National Sports Council. Sabina and her team were the first to receive funds from the sports ministry after becoming SAFF champions.
Additionally, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a reward of 2 million taka, and the BFF announced 15 million taka for the SAFF champions. Sabina and her team are yet to receive these amounts, which are expected to be disbursed by the country's
two leading sports bodies within this month.
