A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping under a moving train along with her daughter in Sayedpur Upazila of Nilphamari on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Tultuli Begum, 23, wife of Tareq Rahman, and her daughter Brishti Akter, 2, residents of Dhanipara village under Sonaroy union.
Family sources said Tultuli’s drug addicted and unemployed husband Tareq used to torture his sister that might have led to the suicide along with her baby daughter.
Sayedpur Railway Police Station sub-inspect Firozul Islam said the woman jumped under ‘Rupsa Express’ near Daroani Railway Station around 7:00am.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection, the official added.
Sonaroy Union Parishad Chairman Golam Mostafa confirmed the matter.
