A Kishoreganj court has awarded capital punishment to woman and life term imprisonment to another woman for killing a man.
Kishoreganj Additional District & Session Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahim delivered the verdict on Sunday in presence of the convicts.
The condemned convict is Joyena Akter of Batrish village in Kishoreganj Sadar Upazila. The court also fined her Tk 1 lakh. Another convict is Rina Akter. She was also fined Tk 1 lakh.
According to the prosecution, Tofail was beaten to death by convicts on March 10 in 2012 in Batrish village. The next day, the victim’s father Awlad Hossain filed a murder case with the Kishoreganj police station, naming three accused.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Abu Sayeed Imam moved for the state in the court, whileAdvocate Khitish Debnath moved for accused.
