A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Naogaon Sadar on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred around 10:30 am at Kathatali in Naogaon.
The victim was Juthi, 22, daughter of Jhuntu Pramanik, a resident of Mridha Para at Anandanagar village under Naogaon Sadar.
According to her father, Juthi married Tanvir, a resident of Gazipur, about a year ago after a relationship. A few months after the marriage, she discovered that Tanvir had another wife, which led to frequent disputes between the couple.
Eventually, Juthi returned to her family in Naogaon and filed a case against Tanvir in court. Thursday was the scheduled date for a hearing. She left home in the morning to attend court. Meanwhile, Tanvir was waiting near a microbus by the main road. When Juthi stood by the roadside, Tanvir stabbed her and fled the scene.
Locals rushed Juthi to hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Naogaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nure Alam Siddiqui said that police have been sent to the scene upon receiving the news and necessary actions will be taken regarding the incident.
