A gang of robbers introducing themselves as policemen had looted golden ornament, cash and other belongings in the dark night of Wednesday. They also stabbed the daughter of the house master when she had protested the robbery, said the inmates of the house.
House master Manirul Islam of Pobahati area in the municipality, also an employee of the office of the deputy commissioner in Jhenaidah said a gang of robbers numbering five to six had entered in his house breaking the door on the gun point at about 1.30 am of Wednesday. They had introduced themselves as police men from Jhenaidah police station.
The robbers had tied the hands and moth of each of the family members and looted cash, golden ornaments and mobile phones. They had stabbed his daughter Manira Akter Shantana while she had protested the robbers. The locals rushed the spot when the inmates started hue and cry when the robbers had left the scene.
They had sent Shantana to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital for treatment
Jhenaidah Saar police station officer in charge (OC) Sheikh Sohel Rana when contacted said they had sent police men on the spot immediately after the incident. Police has been hunting the miscreants and using information technology to detect them. Police was hopeful to grill them within short time, OC said.
