Targeting the Eid-ul-Fitr, woman snatchers are active in different part of the Sylhet city especially in the shopping malls. In Ramadan police arrested three snatchers from the different shopping malls in the city while they were snatching.
The woman muggers especially target to the woman come for Eid shopping ahead the Eid. As a guise of customer the woman mugger enter the different shopping malls looking for chances to snatch the woman’s purse, mobile when they are busy with the bargaining.
Source said, all the year woman muggers group are active in the city area. But before the Eid they become more serious..
This year law enforcing agencies go tougher movement to stop the woman mugging by the deploying woman police in a plain cloth.
Alongside the male police personal, woman police are working to the city’s different shopping center area to stop mugging. The quantity of woman police forces has been already increased in the city area according to the metropolitan police source.
There are total two thousand of police are working the city’s different important area to stop the any untoward situation during the Eid rush hours.
Nasima Begum, 28, member of a woman muggers group, was detained while she was snatching a woman’s purse in city’s Zindabazar area on last Saturday. Later she was sent to jail after producing the court.
Earlier the duo or trio were arrested several times but they are now on the bail.
Due to being active the woman mugging groups, many woman are reluctant to go to the shopping malls for Eid shopping.
Sumaiya Begum who came to the city’s Sukriya market told this reporter, to avoid the snatchers, she brought a little bit of money for Eid shopping which was not enough to shop.
Zedan Al Musa, additional police commissioner of Sylhet metropolitan police said, police are working to their best to stop the any criminal activist in the city area especially in Ramadan.
This year we add our woman police forces to trace the woman mugging. Few of woman mugging group members already been arrested, she said.
