Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken various initiatives to discourage the begging profession and create employment for the beggars with the slogan, "Live with self-respect and no more begging".

In that continuation, a sickly beggar woman was given an auto  rickshaw worth of Tk one lakh at the condition that she would not beg anymore in Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Sunday.

Nabinagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Masum inspired by Brahmanbaria DC Hayat-ud-Daulah Khan, handed over the battery run auto rickshaw to the beggar woman. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Iqbal Hasan was present at the time.

Activities for the rehabilitation of beggars in different unions of the upazila are continuing even amid this corona crisis by the administration.

The beggar woman said that her younger son will drive the auto rickshaw and with whatever he earns they will be able to support the family. She cried with joy when she got the key of the new auto rickshaw and prayed for all concerned including the Prime Minister.
