Woman killed by husband’s slap in Jashore

A housewife was killed by her husband's slap at Bagharpara upazila in Jashore district on hursday night. 

Police arrested the husband after the case was filed with Bagharpara Police Station in this connection on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified, as Jamila Khatun, 35,  wife of Abdus Sattar of the upazila.

Sahidul Islam brother of the victim, said that the incident took place on Thursday night in the village of Vitabala at Bagharpara upazila of Jashore district. He claimed that Abdus Sattar killed his sister.

Local sources and police said that Abdus Sattar had two wives. Younger wife Jamila Khatun has been ill for a long time. Jamila Khatun had a conversation with Abdus Sattar over family feud on Thursday night.

At one point during the talk, Abdus Sattar strongly slapped her on cheek. Jamila Khatun died on the spot. Police recovered the body of Jamila Khatun and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagharpara Police Station Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter.

The OC said that was informed the news early on that the wife of Abdus Sattar had died. A case has been filed with the police station  in this regard. Abdus Sattar was arrested. “We are investigating the matter,” said the OC.
