Woman, her daughter hacked to death over land dispute

A mother and daughter were hacked to death over land dispute in Charpara Rubber Dam area of Islamabad in Cox's Bazar Sadar on Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Rasheda Begum, 32, wife of Azizul Haque Baburchi of the area, and their daughter Jannatul Ferdous, 13, a class-7 student of local Jahanara Islam Girls' High School.

President of local Charpara Central Jame Mosque Management Committee Mohiuddin confirmed the news of the murder.

Mohiuddin said Azizul had a quarrel with Abul Kalam, 35, son of Zafar Alam of the same area over a land dispute. During the quarrel, Rasheda Begum was slain on the spot. Jannatul was taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital in a seriously injured condition where the doctor declared her dead. 

The bodies of the two were kept in the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. Cox's Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Rafiqul Islam said a case was being processed in this regard and a police operation is continuing to arrest the responsible.
