Woman dies in Rangamati road accident

A woman of Marma community was killed after a Bus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head on in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Pai Mei Marma, 40. She is student of Bangladesh Open University.

The incident occurred at Bangalhalia Dakbanglow area under Chandraghona Thana of the upazila at around 11:40am on Friday.

Four others were injured during the incident. They were rescued and sent to the hospital.

Local sources said a CNG-run autorickshaw traveling from Bandarban and a tourist bus heading towards Bandarban at Bangalhalia Dakbanglow Para collided head on. The CNG-run auto-rickshaw was severely damaged during the accident. A woman named Pai Mei Marma was killed on the spot.

The CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver and four passengers were seriously injured at that time. They were rescued and sent to the hospital for treatment. The police detained the driver and helper of the tourist bus and seized the vehicle.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandraghona police station, Mohammad Shahjahan Kamal, said that both the bus and its driver and helper have been arrested.
