The southern bank of the Hail Haor has now been converted into vegetable fields. Haor adjacent village of Sreemangal Upazila of Moulvibazar is Uttarsur. It is in this village that new possibilities of agricultural revolution have appeared. A farm has seen success in growing vegetables this winter season. Now their plan is to expand the farm as profits show.

On the surface, it can be seen in Uttarsur village of Sreemangal Upazila, Kazi & Azad Agro Farm has been built on the grassy outskirts of Hail Haor bank. Entrepreneur Kazi Ayesha has developed this farm in about eight acres of land. Various winter vegetables have been cultivated there.

The most successful of these has come from cultivating gourds. The farm is now surrounded by a canopy of gourds. Besides, various green vegetables including red vegetables, green vegetables, eggplants have been cultivated. Which is going commercially to neighboring markets.

Not only vegetables, Kazi & Azad Agro Farm has been systematically planted with different varieties of mango, litchi, anar, guava trees. Plum trees and pepper trees have been planted in a modern manner. From which fruits have already been picked and sent to the market.

There is a pond in the middle of the farm. Where different species of fish are cultivated. Besides, a shed has been constructed for setting up a dairy and cattle farm. About 40 cows will be milked here in a few months. All in all, this new farm has shown a ray of hope in this remote area.

According to Kazi & Azad Agro Farm, the leaves of gourd are green and soft. Male and female flowers bloom in 42-45 days and 57-60 days after planting respectively. Each fruit weighs one and a half to two kg. An average of 10 to 12 fruits per tree. First fruits can be harvested within 60-70 days of planting. Gourds are mainly winter season. The yield is higher in winter. Bhadra can be grown first as an advance crop for winter cultivation. Fifty thousand rupees have been spent on the cultivation of gourd on three acres of land, starting from the loft. A few months worth of one lakh and eighty thousand gourds have been sold. All crops are organically grown. Now a plan has been taken for rearing cows commercially and selling milk. Stakeholders are hoping that new plans will be implemented from the dividends of the partner crops.

Kazi Mamun, director of the farm, said, "It has been a year since our farm started. After that we started cultivating winter vegetables. We started growing them as farm companion crops. There was no entrepreneur to produce commercial agricultural products here before. We used to come and go and then the plan came to build a farm here. I started small and now it's much bigger. We have big plans for this farm.

He said, in a short period of time, the farm is seeing the face of profit, even small trees have mangoes. Little plums caught plums on the tree. The tree fell to the ground under the weight of the fruit. Crops are good because the soil is good. Cultivation of gourd also made more profit. Profit is also being made from fish farming.

Sreemangal Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilufar Yasmin Monalisa Sweety said, we have taken initiatives for vegetable cultivation in new areas. New land is being cultivated. Encouraging farmers and entrepreneurs through various types of exhibitions.
