With the onset of winter and the peak tourism season, the annual Industry and Trade Fair has begun in Cox’s Bazar, bringing extra excitement for both locals and visitors. The fair, expanded this year in scale and scope, promises a vibrant mix of business, recreation, and family entertainment.
The event was inaugurated on Monday (November 3) afternoon at the Golf Ground adjacent to the International Cricket Stadium in the tourist town. Guests released balloons and doves before cutting the ribbon to open the fair.
Among the guests were Cox’s Bazar Municipality BNP Convener Alhaj Rafiqul Huda Chowdhury, Cox’s Bazar Press Club General Secretary Momtaz Uddin Bahari, Journalists’ Union President Nurul Islam Helali, General Secretary SM Jafar, District BNP Organizing Secretary Moktar Ahmed, and District Jubo Dal President Advocate Syed Ahmad Uzzal, along with members of the organizing committee.
The fairground has been transformed with decorative lighting and colorful setups. More than a hundred stalls have already opened, featuring top brands such as RFL, Vision, Walker, Kiam, Italiano, and Home Textile. The venue also includes food courts offering local and regional delicacies—this year’s special attractions include doi fuchka and Sylhet’s famous Ruhani achar.
For children and families, the fair offers a variety of amusement rides, including a digital Ferris wheel, water rides, bumper cars, a magic show, and a haunted house. There are also prayer facilities and temporary washrooms inside the venue.
Chairman of the Fair Management Committee Md. Sanaullah Abu said the event, jointly organized by the Cox’s Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Journalists’ Union, will continue throughout December, with possible extensions depending on attendance. Entry is open daily from morning until midnight.
“This year’s fair is larger and more entertaining than ever,” said Member Secretary Saiful Islam Liton. “We’ve focused on both business and recreation, ensuring something for everyone—from families and children to tourists looking for an evening of joy.”
