The most prestigious medal in the cinema world of Bangladesh is the National Film Award. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the award to the winners of the National Film Awards at Bangabandhu International Conference Center at 4pm yesterday. Information Minister was present at the programme with the Prime Minister. Hasan Mahmud MP, State Minister of Information, Murad Hassan MP, Hasanul Haque Inu MP and Information Secretary Abdul Malek, chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry were present along with the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister then handed over the award to ATM Shamsuzzaman, Sujata, Prabir Mitra and Alamgir for special contribution to the film industry. The winners in other criterias then received the medal from the Prime Minister. After giving away the awards, the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a speech congratulating the winners. The honourable Prime Minister then enjoyed a cultural program organized for the second phase of the ceremony.
Apu Biswas, Mahia Mahi, Nipun, Bobby, Emon and Zayed Khan performed at the cultural event. Khurshid Alam, Nakib Khan, Samina Chowdhury and Kona performed songs.
It is worth mentioning that this time, 63 artistes in 28 categories have been awarded for the past two years. The best films of the two years are 'Dhaka Attack' (2017) and 'Putro' (2018). The best actors are jointly Shakib Khan for ‘Swatta’ (2017) and Arefin Shuvo for Dhaka Attack (2017). Other best actor of the year 2018 were Ferdous for ‘Putro’ (2018), and Simon for ‘Jannat’ (2018).
Nusrat Imroz Tisha (Halda) was the best actress of the year 2017 and Jaya Ahsan (Debi) was the best actress of the year 2018.
