Who will vote corrupt BNP leaders to power: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the BNP does not have the leadership to lead the party to an election victory.

 “One is convicted for misappropriating the fund of orphans and another is a fugitive convicted for various misdeeds, including the August-21 grenade attack and 10-truck arm-haul cases... Who will vote such a party to power?” she said while speaking at a press briefing at Ganabhaban on Monday.

The prime minister arranged the briefing on her recently-concluded visit to the United States to attend the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The briefing started around 4pm on Monday.

The prime minister returned home on October 1 after her official visit to the USA.

She visited New York in the USA during from September 19 to 24 to attend the 76th UNGA sessions and other high-level events. She also visited Washington DC from September 25 to 30.

During her stay in New York, Sheikh Hasina addressed the general debate of the 76th session of the UNGA on September 24.

The prime minister also attended several high-level and closed-door meetings as well as bilateral talks with head of governments, states and organisations.

She planted a tree sapling and inaugurated a bench at the UN Gardens in North Lawn of UN Headquarters in honour of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on September 20 marking his birth centenary.
