The World Health Organization (WHO) has reiterated the call for wearing the mask to prevent coronavirus infection, reports BSS.
In countries like Bangladesh where the prevalence of infection is high and social isolation is not possible due to population density, the organization has advised to wear masks everywhere, an official handout said on Wednesday.
According to the WHO, the mask should be made of three layers.
The first layer should be synthetic, the second layer polypropylene and the third layer (which is closest to the face) should be cloth, it added.
To disinfect mask, WHO gave several instructions to follow such as one should separate the mask from his or her face by holding the rope, ribbon or part of the rubber band after returning home.
One can’t touch the mask directly.
WHO asked to soak the mask in soapy water, wash it and then dry in the sunlight to disinfect the masks.
One can boil the mask with hot water and salt. Then let it dry in the sun and he or she should iron it after drying.
Do not wear wet masks as it increases the risk of infection.
If one does not want to wash, use a one-time surgical mask and throw it after using once.
When one goes out, put two masks in the bag. If the face-mask is damaged or wet for any reason, another one should be used, WHO said in the handout.
