Wheat collection campaign has been inaugurated in Thakurgaon during the inland food storage season. Ramesh Chandra Sen, Member of the Awami League Presidium and Thakurgaon-1 constituency, inaugurated the wheat collecting operation at Sadar Upazila Food Controller's office on Wednesday afternoon.
District Food Controller Mohammad Babul Hossain presided over the function, among others. Dr KM Kamruzzaman Selim, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abdullah Al Mamun, Upazila Food Controller Rais Uddin, Sadar Upazila Awami League President and Upazila Chairman Advocate Arunanshu Dutta Tito, Thakurgaon Press Club president Mansur Ali, among others.
According to the District Food Controller, 12 thousand 461 metric tonnes of wheat will be collected from the farmers this time. Out of this, Thakurgaon sadar upazila 2 thousand 757, Baliadangi upazila 3 thousand 158, Pirganj upazila 2472, Rani Shankail upazila 2 thousand and 582 metric tons of wheat will be collected. From April 15 to June 30, the government will collect wheat directly from farmers at a rate of Tk 28 per kg.
