Miscreants set a wheat truck on fire on the Sirajganj Highway late on the first day of the second phase of hartal called by BNP and like-minded parties on Sunday . The miscreants set fire to the truck going from Dhaka to North Bengal in the Konabari area of Bangabandhu Bridge West Highway and escaped.
The matter was confirmed by Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Jilani on Monday (November 20) morning.
OC Jilani said, when a wheat-laden truck bound for North Bengal reached Konabari area from Dhaka the miscreants set it on fire and fled.
As we had a team a short distance away, they went to the spot and tried to douse the fire. But upon their failure, the policemen informed the fire service. Later, the fire fighters came and joined the police to put out the fire. Attempts are being made to identify the criminals.
