What are the coronavirus symptoms?

Coronavirus is a respiratory disease which starts with a fever, followed by a dry cough. After a week, it leads to breathing difficulties and may require the patient to take hospital treatment.

The symptoms are as follows:

  1. Headache
  2. Cough
  3. Muscle pain
  4. Shortness of breath and breathing difficulties
  5. Fever and tiredness

The incubation period -- between infection and showing any symptoms -- lasts up to 14 days, the World Health Organization (WHO) says. But some researchers say it may be up to 24 days.

How to prevent the virus:

  1. Wash hands with soap for up to 20 seconds.
  2. Cough and sneeze into tissues and dispose them immediately.
  3. Try to avoid close contact with people.
  4. Keep in mind that face masks do not provide enough effective protection, according to medical experts.
