Well-equipped building draws kids to school in Kishoreganj

A new three-story building of Barabor Primary School, with its decorative classroom and various creative features, has successfully attracted children in attneding school.

Barabor Government Primary School is located in Pakundia upazila of the Kishoreganj. The new building of the school, constructed under the PEDP-4 project of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) at a cost of Tk 28 lakh, has gained popularity among both children and parents of the area.

This initiative has encouraged children to go to school and received an enthusiastic response from the parents as result.

Parents said that children who attends this school do not need to be forced to go to classes. The external transformation of the school had a positive impact on primary education, creating a positive effect in the community. The newly constructed school building and the vibrantly decorated pre-primary classroom, filled with colorful designs, have attracted students, parents, and locals alike.

It was learnt that a three-story school building was recently constructed at a cost of Tk 28 lakh under the LGED's PEDP-4 project. The building has already been handed over to the school authorities by LGED, and full-fledged academic activities have begun. The new building, along with the ground-floor’s balcony and pre-primary classroom, has been decorated with vibrant colors and designs. This transformation has added an extra charm, successfully capturing the attention of the children and increased their interest in the school.

The entire building is freshly painted, but the ground-floor’s balcony and pre-primary classroom are particularly charming. The walls of the classroom are adorned with colorful designs and intricate carvings of birds, fruits, and various objects familiar to children.

To stimulate their thinking, as well as for their proper intellectual development, the room is equipped with toys and various educational materials. The floor is covered with mats, and small tables are set up for each child. The children joyfully engage in their lessons, creating a lively and cheerful atmosphere.

Young students Khadija and Jisan said, we enjoy coming to school. Our school is very beautiful. We can play when we come to school.

Locals said several kindergartens were established around this school. Due to that, the number of student in this school is a little lower number. However, with the construction of the new school building and the colorful decoration of the pre-primary classroom, additional charm was added. Once the problem of teacher shortage is addressed, the number of students at the school is expected to increase significantly in the future.

Headteacher of Barabor Government Primary School, Shamima Nazneen, said this initiative is taken to attract children. Along with the classrooms, the balcony is also decorated with vibrant and colorful materials. This has caught the attention of the children, who are easily moved by colorful design and patterns.

She further mentioned that despite the teacher shortage, regular courtyard meetings and home visits are being conducted to increase student enrollment.

Upazila Primary Education Officer Dr Mohammad Daulat Hossain Bhuiyan said anything colorful attracts children. When a school is decorated with colorful things, children will feel joyous. When a school looks attractive to children from the outside, they become more eager to come. After the changes, the children expressed their happiness and joy for such a beautiful school. Furthermore, receiving toys in the pre-primary class increased the children's interest in school.

According to the new government policy, every school’s pre-primary classroom should be well-decorated and painted with attractive colors. Each corner of the classroom needs to have various materials and toys. Children will become familiar with different objects and learn through play. The learning will take place through fun and laughter, he added.

He also said that the problem of teacher shortage will soon be addressed.
