Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year-1430 will be celebrated across the country today (Friday) amid traditional festivities, enthusiasm, fanfare and festivity. Country’s people especially living in rural area on Thursday celebrated traditional Chaitra Sankranti festival marking the last day of the outgoing Bangla year.
They bade farewell to the outgoing year 1429 with a fresh hope that a new sun will rise that will take away all sorrows, pains, and fears from the country after the dark chapter of Covid-19 pandemic and the current Russia-Ukraine war. On this august occasion we express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to our valued readers, patrons, advertisers, contributors and well-wishers.

Pahela Baishakh is an integral part of Bangali culture. Bangalis have been celebrating Pahela Baishakh as a universal and non-communal festival for a long period of time. Shedding the preceding year’s glooms to oblivion, we believe this day will bring the strength to the national life to uphold the rich cultural values and rituals of the Bangalis. Let the dead past bury its dead and start the day in fresh spirits, people touched by new sunshine also expressed their firm determination to turn around and overcome all odds or hurdles in the days to come.
Bangladesh has lost its eminent personalities including educationists, journalists, renowned lawyers, veteran freedom fighters, politicians, noted actors and singer and leading business stalwarts last year. Amid destruction and darkness almost throughout the year of 1429, new life starts to come out again and the country looks forward with fresh hope and aspirations. Everything in nature will give an impression of freshness as if the nature takes a new birth. Braving all odds and hurdles, the country is witnessing a remarkable progress in different sectors of development. Bangladesh is now a role model both at home and abroad.
Apart from traditional fun fare, we Bangalis also celebrate the ‘Pahela Baishakh’ as a tool against communalism and religious extremism. We all Bangalis hope that this Bangla New Year 1430 will usher a new journey for us erasing all the odds and stains of the immediate past year.
