The voluntary organisation 'Commit to Change,' which aims to reduce the inclination of the younger generation towards using various devices, including mobile phones, initiated its first book reading programmeme at Lakshmipur City Government College and Raipur Government College campuses recently.

During this event, more than fifty young individuals participated in the book reading programme in complete silence, which continued until the evening. The organization has scheduled the book reading programme to take place every Friday, providing youth with the opportunity to read books in an open environment at no cost.

Mo Rakib Al Hasan, the founder of Commit to Change, discussed the significance of this book reading initiative. He pointed out that today's youth, especially students, are increasingly engrossed in digital devices, displaying a decreasing interest in reading books. Recognizing this trend, he wondered if there could be a way to cultivate their passion for reading.

In the programme, the organization provided books from their own collection, and participants were encouraged to bring their own books as well. This setup allowed everyone to share and read each other's books. Mo Rakib Al Hasan stated, "We plan to continue this programme every week throughout the entire district."

Commit to Change was established in December 2020 with the primary goal of supporting the development of skills among young women. The organization boasts over two hundred members throughout the district, and in addition to skill development, it is actively involved in various social development initiatives.
