Week-long Divisional SME Products Fair begins in Rajshahi

A week-long ‘Rajshahi Divisional SME Products Fair-2023’ began in Rajshahi city aimed at promoting local SME sector, enhance production of quality SME products, exhibition and introduction of SME goods for expanding business, trade and commerce on Thursday.

SME Foundation of the Ministry of Industries is hosting the fair at Green Plaza of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) in association with the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner office, BSCIC, Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and National Association of Small Industries of Bangladesh (NASIB).

In the fair, a spectrum of locally produced SME goods including leather products, jute products, handicrafts, processed agricultural products, electrical and electronic goods, clothes, design and fashion wears and other products are being exhibited in around 60 stalls.  Rajshahi City Mayor and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the opening ceremony as chief guest, while Chairperson of SME Foundation Dr Masudur Rahman was in the chair.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajshahi Range, Abdul Baten, Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Md Anisur Rahman, Director of Local Government Division Enamul Haque and President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Masudur Rahman spoke as special guests. General Manager of the SME Foundation Nazim Hassan Sattar welcomed the audience.

 Mayor Liton called for collective efforts of all government, entrepreneurs, banks and other financial institutions concerned for effective and successful promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to bolster the region’s economy.

 He also emphasised the need for strengthening the efforts of generating enlightened entrepreneurs in grassroots through the best uses of area based industrial potentialities.

To this end, the government has pledged to remain beside the endeavors, Mayor Liton said adding that the country has already achieved uplift in every sector with the participation of both men and women and SME is the key driving force in the economy.

Meanwhile, the fair will remain open for all from 10 am to 9 pm everyday until January 18.
