Webportal inaugurated for foreign tourists in Bandarban

Chittagong Hill Tract Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Singh MP said that from now on all foreign tourists who will travel to Bandarban can complete the permit application process by filling the form online in any country. 

The minister said that the local tour guides should be educated, responsible and polite, the issue of national security should be kept in mind, no negligence should be done, and no foreign tourists should be harassed when they come to Bandarban.

He said this while inaugurating the online web portal designed to complete the process of travel authorization for foreign tourists in Bandarban Hill District online at 11 am on July 31 (Sunday) at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room.

In 2015, after the circular issued by the Swarastra Ministry, foreigners have to take permission from the Deputy Commissioner to travel to the hilly areas. Previously it had to be applied through manual method, it took 5-6 days, now this task can be completed in 10 minutes through online web. This web will contain the contact address of all tourist tour operators in Bandarban. Tourist can travel safely to the preferred places of Bandarban hill district by contacting the tour operator of his choice.

Foreigners who are working in foreign embassies, foreigners and expatriate NGOs are required to obtain permission from the Ministry of External Affairs to visit the Bandarban Hill District. 

And if any foreign tourist wants to travel to Bandarban Hill District, it is mandatory to take the approval of the District Commissioner, Bandarban District Commissioner said in the ceremony.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Md Sheikh Sadek, Bandarban Army Zone representative Major Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Reza Sarwar, all registered tour operators of Bandarban district and senior officials of government offices working in Bandarban were also present in the ceremony under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Yachmin Parveen Tibriji. Journalists from print and electronic media were present.
