Webinar on health challenges, solutions held

A daylong webinar on “health services: challenges and way and means during corona virus” was held in Jheniah on Thursday. Jhenidah civil surgeon office and Jhenidah Sadar hospital with the association of committee of concern citizens (CCC) Jhenidah unit jointly organized the webinar.

District health department and service receivers participated in the zoom conference to identify the limitations in treatment and solutions. 

Presided over and conducted by CCC president Sayedul Alam, deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath attended as chief guest. Civil surgeon Dr. Salina Bagum, Jhenidah Sadar hospital superintendent Dr. Harun Or Rashid, Jhenidah Sadar UNO Badruddoza Subho attended as special guests.

Two women and eight male participants including corona fighter Dr. Jakir Hossain, transparency International (TI) Bangladesh civic engagement director Farhana Ferdous and Saiful Mabud among others expressed their opinion.

 Chief guest deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath considering the problems, assured of probable solutions to the limitations in improving the health services.

Saroj Kumar Nath said the proposals could be placed in district level upcoming departmental and administrative meetings and forwarded to concern ministry for resolve the crisis gradually. He had suggested to apply to the ministry of health to ensure supply of adequate machineries and equipments for Jhenidah Sadar hospital and dedicated covid 19 hospital. 

He also advised the people to wear mask, use hand sanitizers and preserve mini soap with everybody for a safer cleanness whenever someone comes outside the houses.

Civil surgeon Dr. Salian Begum in her speech admiring the activities of the health department amid global pandemic corona virus, said the sample collection of the covid 19 was least due to short supply of materials. He advised the people to realize the limitations of the government and show patience getting services.

The zoom conference had put some suggestions like establishing 50 bed isolation hospital for covid 19 patients, serve cordially to the patients tested corona positive, deploy adequate physicians, nurses and medical technologists, post various corona updates in civil surgeon office website and face book of corona spokesman at a regular basis.

The conference also suggested to set up specific board for sample collection spots, ensure cleanness of sample collection room, arrange sitting arrangements for patients, supply adequate machineries in government hospitals, introduce mobile phone service, ensure monitoring services and treatment at private hospitals and clinics, using of mask mandatory at public transports, ensure accountability of physicians, nurses and other health staffs showing soft corners to the infected or suspected people and enhance the budget in health sectors.
