We’re actively working to achieve SDG: FM

A three-day international conference titled '7th International Engineering Research, Innovation and Education' has started organized by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) faculty of Applied Sciences.

The opening ceremony of the conference started at 10 am on Thursday in the central auditorium of the university. Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen delivered a virtual message as the chief guest at the conference. In his brief speech, he said, 'Bangladesh is one of the most successful countries in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and now we are actively working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to make Bangladesh a developed nation by 2041.

He urged the engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs and policy makers to cooperate in making Bangladesh a smart nation by utilizing innovative power.

The event was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Farid Uddin Ahmed and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Anwarul Islam was present as a special guest. Professor of the National University of Singapore Mostafizur Rahman, convener of the conference Professor Dr. Ariful Islam and member secretary Professor Dr. Md. Azizul Haque was present there.

Abdul Momen also said domestic resource mobilization should enhance industrial-academic relationship, which can achieve sustainable development goals by maintaining international cooperation and partnership in engineering research and innovation. Such a conference will add considerable value to our issues for building Smart Bangladesh, as it deals with various important disciplines of engineering and technology.

The seventh international conference organized by the Faculty of Applied Sciences will continue from January 12 to January 14. At this conference, engineers, teachers and students from home and abroad will present their research papers on innovation and development of education. More than 190 research papers were selected by registrants. These research papers will be presented in 34 technical sessions including four plenary sessions in three days.
