Golam Farida Chhonda is one of the popular actresses. Like everyone else, she is in home quarantine due to coronavirus. Thinking about her family, she is staying at home. How is this actress spending her time? Apart from these issues she also spoke about several other topics. A Mizan spoke to Chhonda about her time in home quarantine and other issues.
How are you passing time?
I am spending my time in quarantine due to coronavirus. The first thing is that we don’t have a house help anymore. So I do all the work myself, from cleaning the house to cooking and watering the trees in my veranda.
I’m trying to be health conscious. I’m getting coronavirus updates on television as well as watching lots of movies and reading books. This is how my time is spent.
How long have you been in home quarantine?
It's been 50 days since I went out. In between, I went out twice to buy medicine and groceries in case of emergency. I went out wearing masks, hand gloves and ensuring my safety.
Aren’t you being frustrated because of home quarantine?
In the current situation, frustration has touched every working individual. I'm not out of it either. In fact, our livelihood comes from working every day. That is why this time is frustrating for us because every day we are sitting at home.
I can't get out of the house and go to work. We have lost our source of income. The condition of low-income people is very bad.
And those of us who are in fair condition may be able to go on for two or three months, but what will happen after that. Especially for those of us who are not involved in anything other than acting as professional artistes it is actually very frustrating.
Many of us were expecting stimulus from the government but we are still not getting it. We hope that if the government is kind to our professional people before Eid, our frustration will be alleviated.
Are you currently in contact with people close to you who are in the media world?
Due to social media, I’m being able to communicate with those who are close to me in media. I think it is a positive medium.
Aren’t you missing work?
I miss work terribly. Because we are actually people who work every day. I worked for four or five days in a row, then maybe I feel a little annoyed because of work. But when I am at home for two days I feel restless.
We are not really used to sitting at home. We love our work. Since I am unable to work, I am missing it a lot and I am missing every person related to work.
What is your message to everyone?
We noticed that some of the garments were open. Some bus services have been started locally to bring garment workers. Garment workers are crowding there.
Coronavirus is likely to spread quickly there. Besides, the government has approved that shopping malls and stores will remain open from May 10.
People will start coming and going in a very normal way. It is not safe for us to go out in such a situation.
Now in this situation we all have to stay at home on our own accord. You have to stay at home thinking about your family. There is no other way.
What do you want to do first when the coronavirus crisis is over?
I have become very tired physically and mentally. So I want to join work first at the end of the coronavirus crisis. I always want to go back to the place that I am very fond of.
