State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md. Enamur Rahman has said that the World Bank will provide Tk 255 crore for food aid to Rohingyas.
The state minister told reporters after the signing ceremony of an agreement between the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and the WFP (World Food Program) at the ministry's conference room on Sunday.
Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Md Kamrul Hasan signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry and Country Director Jeans Pierce on behalf of the WFP. Senior officials from the ministry and the WFP were also present. The state minister said that under the agreement, WFP would provide food aid to Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar through the Safety Net System for the Poorest project. The project will be funded by the World Bank. He further said that the project would provide nutrition education to women, provide assistance to children under the age of five in health centers, provide materials and training in vegetable gardening, plant and preserve trees, preserve mountain slopes, clean roads and sewers and carry out anti-social activities. Various awareness activities will be taken to stop it.
