World Bank Country Director in Bangladesh Mercy Tembon has been promoted to vice president and corporate secretary of the World Bank Group. She will join Washington DC’s World Bank Group headquarters on September 1.
A Cameroonian national, Mercy Miyang Tembon has been serving as a country director for both Bangladesh and Bhutan since June 30, 2019.
Her three-year tenure will expire on August 31.
The Economic Relations Division recently sent a memo to the Prime Minister’s Office to organise a farewell party by August 10 in honour of the outgoing country director Mercy Tembon.
Tembon joined the World Bank in the year of 2000 as an Education Specialist and has held leadership positions in different countries since then.
Prior to taking this assignment, Tembon served as the country director for the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia) nations in Europe and Central Asian regions.
