Some bigwigs from constitutional posts and autonomous bodies have started tendering their resignations after the fall of Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina amid a historic mass upsurge.
In the absence of the government, Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus took over the charge of the interim government as Chief Adviser on August 8. The position is equivalent to the post of Prime Minister.
Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country, appointed justices, civil servants and teachers at different constitutional posts, administration, universities and other sectors to run the state affairs according to her will.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan on Saturday resigned from his post amid demand of his resignation by the lawyers and protesters of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Before tendering his resignation, Hasan told media that he would step down and would submit his resignation letter to the President after completing some formalities.
Sources at the law ministry said two Appellate Division justices-- Abu Zafor Siddique and Kashefa Hussain---have also resigned.

He submitted his resignation letter to the finance ministry at 3:00pm on the day.
Dhaka University vice chancellor Prof ASM Maksud Kamal resigned from his post on Saturday.
Maksud Kamal told media that he submitted his resignation letter to the secretary of the education ministry.
“I talked to an advisor to the interim government and decided not to hold my position,” he said.
Besides Kamal, the provosts of Rokeya Hall, Shamsun Nahar Hall, Bijoy Ekattor Hall, Bangabandhu Hall, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall and Salimullah Muslim Hall resigned.
Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, vice chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Sylhet, has resigned from his position.
The university's Public Relations office confirmed the news of his resignation on Saturday afternoon, stating that the VC cited personal reasons for his resignation.
It has also been learnt that Professor Ahmed submitted his resignation letter to the President, in accordance with protocol.
Bangla Academy director general Professor Dr Md Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, who joined the academy just 18 days ago, resigned from his post on Saturday.
Nargis Sanjida Sultana, deputy director of the Public Relations Subdivision of Bangla Academy, confirmed it.
Prof Askari was appointed the director general of Bangla Academy on July 18 this year, succeeding Muhammad Nurul Huda.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, Bangladesh Army made a major reshuffle in some of its top-level positions while Major General Ziaul Ahsan had been dismissed from service.
Besides, Lieutenant General Md Saiful Alam has been assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while Lieutenant General Md Mojibur Rahman appointed GOC of Army Training and Doctrine Command, Lieutenant General Ahmad Tabrez Shams Chowdhury as Quartermaster General of the Army, Lieutenant General Mizanur Shamim as the Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Mohammad Shaheenul Haque as Commandant of NDC and Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman as Director General of National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC).
In another move, Mainul Islam has been appointed as new Inspector General of Bangladesh Police, replacing Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.
Home Ministry's Deputy Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh on August 6 issued an order appointing Mainul as IGP as per the president's order.
Mainul Islam from Panchagargh was serving as the commandant of the Traffic and Driving School (TDS) in Dhaka.
