Around 2,000 water-stagnant families received around 20,000 kilograms of rice as humanitarian assistance at Sariakandi in Bogura.
Bogura deputy commissioner Md Saiful Islam inaugurated the rice distribution programme as chief guest in Rouhadah Dam area at Chandanbaisha union in Sariakandi upazila, said a press release on Saturday.
Sariakandi UNO Sabuj Kumar Basak presided over the distribution programme, while municipal mayor Matiur Rahman Moti, upazila vice-chairman Ayyub Ali Tarafdar, Chandanbaisha UP chairman Mahmudun Nabi Hero and former principal Sadat Ali, among others, spoke at the event.
Each family received 10 kilograms of rice. The affected families of Chaluabari, Kajala, Karnibari, Bohail, Qutubpur, Chandanbaisha, Hatsherpur, Narchi, Sadar, Municipal, Phulbari, Kamalpur and Velabari of the upazila got the rice.
