Water level of Jamuna River increases

The water level of Jamuna River continues to rise at Sirajganj point. The embankments are being repaired as per the flood warning issued by the Meteorological Center.

In the last 24 hours till Thursday noon, the water level of Jamuna has increased by 18 cm at the city protection dam point and it is flowing at 2.25 meters below the danger level on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Water Development Board Sirajganj gauge reader (water gauge) Hasanur Rahman said that according to the warning of the Meteorological Observatory, there is a danger of flood situation due to rising water of Jamuna.

A warning issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Observatory team said that in the first and second week of June, flooding in the riparian areas of the river Jamuna was expected to be completed by 5th June. At the same time, barricades and arrowheads are feared to collapse or flood. According to the instructions, the farmers have collected the crops of most of the areas and planted them in pots. The Water Development Board is working to speed up the renovation work on the weakest part of the city protection dam.
