‘Waqf officials must prioritise public service’

State Minister for Religion Md Faridul Haque Khan has said that our country has been acquired in exchange for the blood of three million martyrs. The salaries and allowances of the government employees are paid for by the people of the country. Therefore, putting public service first, government employees have to fulfill their respective responsibilities.

The State Minister said this while addressing a function at 11.00 am on Wednesday at the office of the Waqf Administrator and inaugurated the newly established Mujib Corner and exchanged views with the officials of the Waqf Administration.

The state minister said the Waqf administration manages public welfare and welfare resources related to the religious sentiments of the people. Therefore, the employees of this organization have to provide public service by ensuring responsibility, greater transparency and accountability. This will create a positive attitude of the people towards this organization and will increase confidence.

The state minister further said that Mujib Corners in institutions will awaken the spirit of Bangabandhu's ideal and the great war of liberation among the officers and employees and the people aspiring for service. This will make government officials and employees more motivated to provide public services.

Speaking as the special guest, Religion Secretary Kazi Enamul Hasan, NDC said, Waqf administration services and online activities will be increased to make the activities more people-friendly and easy. Necessary initiatives will be taken including setting up of offices at departmental level and recruitment of manpower. 

He further said that coordination with the local administration would be strengthened to build a people-friendly Waqf administration.

The meeting was chaired by Waqf Administrator Khan Md Nurul Amin and was attended by Additional Secretary (Organization) of the Ministry of Religion Md Munim Hasan, Joint Secretary (Organization) Mohammad Abdul Quddus Ali Sarkar and officials of different levels of the Waqf Administrator's Office.
