A day after terminating the contract with head coach Steve Rhodes, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday confirmed that the fast bowling coach Courtney Walsh and physio Thihan Chandramohan’s contract will not to extended, reports BSS.

BCB’s contract with Walsh and Chandramohan came to end after the conclusion of the Bangladesh’s World Cup mission but the Board made it sure that they won’t renew the contract with them.

However the same decision is not applicable with the rest of the backrooms staffs like while ball batting consultant Neil McKenzie, fielding coach Ryan Kook and spin bowling consultant Sunil Joshi. The BCB has currently been in talk with them to reach a concrete solution with the new contract.

“You (media) have already been informed that we are not renewing the contract of our head coach Steve Rhodes. The separation was done on mutual consent. Apart from them we are also not renewing the contract with Walsh and physio Chandramohan after their tenure came to an end following the conclusion of our World Cup,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.

The CEO however refused to give an explanation as to why they didn’t renew the contract with them.

“It’s an internal matter, we are not keen to discuss on that. We have already completed the formalities with the head coach.”

“We are now in discussion with our existing coach to renew the contract. But they would have to be interested about the job. So we can’t say right now who will be with us and who won’t be. We have a meeting coming in this month after which we’ll take the final decision,” Chowdhury added.

The CEO said an interim coach is likely to take the charge of the team during their tour in Sri Lanka later this month. Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series here, slated to be held on July 26, 28 and 31 in Colombo.

“We have also a tour in Sri Lanka coming up, so we are discussing to select the name of a coach for this tour. Finding a coach is matter of time. There is also World T20 coming in next year what we have to keep in mind. In the wake of the situation there we might see an interim coach for the Sri Lanka tour for the time being.”
