Vow to ensure safe food for all

National Food Safety Day observed across the country

With the theme ‘Put Hands Together, Ensure Safe Food’, the National Food Safety Day-2020 was observed across the country on Sunday with a vow to ensure safe food for all on the Mujib Barsho. 

Different government organisations, food processing companies, traders, importers and other stakeholders organised various programmes marking the day. 

In Shariatpur, the day was held on the initiative of District Food Controller’s Office and the District Administration. 

A colourful rally started from the Central Shaheed Minar and ended at the office of the Deputy Commissioner in the town. 

Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Kazi Abu Taher was present as the chief guest at a discussion held at the DC office conference room following the rally. Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mamun-ul-Hassan presided over the discussion. 

District Civil Surgeon Dr. SM Abdullah Al Murad, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Md Amir Hamza, District Food Controller SM Tahsinul Haque and Additional Superintendent of Police Mohaimominul were present as special guests at the time. 

In Kishoreganj, District Administration observed National Food Safety Day on Sunday. A discussion and colourful rally was held in the town marking the day. The discussion meeting took place at Kishoreganj Collectorate conference room. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdullah-al-Mashud attended the discussion as chief guest while, District Food Controller Md. Tanvir Hossion presided over it. Additional Police Super Md. Mizanur Rahman, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, District Primary Education Officer Subrata Kumar Bonik, Sadar Health Administrator Dr. Tazrina Tayeb and Deputy Director of DNCRP Md. Ibrahim Hossain spoke on the occasion among others. 

In Nilphamari, on the occasion, the district administration and Department of Food jointly organised at discussion at conference room of the Deputy.

Earlier, a colorful procession with participation of government officials and employees, representatives of NGOs and human rights’ organisations, teachers, students and common people, was brought out on the local streets.

With additional deputy commissioner (General) of Nilphamari Azharul Islam in the chair Deputy Commissioner Md. Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury addressed as the chief guest.

Nilphamari district controller of food Kazi Saifuddin, deputy director (Crop) of the department of agricultural extension (DAE), additional superintendent of police (Sadar Circle) and other concerned officials addressed the function.

The government officials at the post-rally discussion said there is no alternative to nutritionally safe food to make the present and future generations healthy and functioning normally to build a developed country.

They said the incidences of food adulteration are increasing day by day , not unwillingly. The unethical trend is very bad and shameful. From small traders to big ones, they are also adulterating food or crops.

To avoid the catastrophic consequences from consumption of adulterated foods, they called upon every conscious citizen to cooperate with the authorities concerned in production and marketing of safe foods in local markets to save the present and future generations.
