A weeklong drama festival has begun in response to the implementation of corruption-free clean Satkhira, Green Satkhira. At the opening of the festival, the promise was made to end the corruption that deepened.
Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal presided over the inauguration of the drama festival organized by the district administration and district Shilpakala academy at the district Shilpakala academy auditorium on Thursday night.
The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony was Mir Mostaq Ahmed Rabi, Member of Parliament, Satkhira-2. Superintendent of Police, Mostafizur Rahman, district Awami League president Monsur Ahmed, General secretary and Zilaparishad chairman Nazrul Islam, Local government deputy director Hussain Shawkat, Additional district magistrate Abu Sayeed, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi officer Debashish Chowdhury were present as special guests. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal said that the drama festival was a protesting event as a tool to counteract fanatical sectarian power.
He said the last phase of the quiz competition would be held on November 2, a weekly book fair from November 14 to November 21, the Deputy Commissioner's Cup football tournament on November 22, and the Jatra Pala to mark the Cultural Revolution in Satkhira.
He urged the people to come forward to implement the Green Satkhira, a corruption free clean Satkhira. On the inaugural day of the drama festival, the play 'Kabor' was staged on the basis of the language movement written by Shaheed Munir Chowdhury.
