Speaking on the occasion, DC Abdul Jalil said updating work of the voter list began today ahead of the next Parliamentary Election.

The persons, who were born on January 1, 2007, will be enlisted in the voters list afresh. The significance of updating this voters list is to enlist the persons who become 16. They will be brought under registration so that they can become voters after next two years automatically.

In the district, there are 22 lakh voters at present and after updating, around 50,000 new figures are likely to be added to the list.

Apart from this, he urged the eligible persons to enlist their names in the voters list at the nearby centers within the timeframe.
