Mahbub Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, Liberation War period sub divisional police officer (SDPO) in Jhenaidah, has inaugurated the inter upazila volleyball tournament in Jhenaidah marking Mujib Barsho.
The inaugural session washeld at Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Stadium on Sunday afternoon where Jhenaidah deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath presided over the session.
MP from Jhenidah-1 constituency Abdul Hyee attended as chief guest, while woman MP Khaleda Khanam attended as special guest. Superintendent of police (SP) Muntasirul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC, general) Arif Uz Zaman, Jhenaidah municipality mayor Saidul Karim Mintu, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Badruddoza Subho, assistant commissioner (land) Abdullah Al mamun and ruling party organizing secretary M Hakim Ahmed among others were present.
District administration sources said the tournament jointly organized by Jhenidah district administration and district sports association (DSA) on Sunday, will continue till December 6. All upazila level six volleyball teams will participate in the competition.
Jhenaidah upazila volleyball eleven faced their Shailkupa upazila counterparts on the inaugural day.
