Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign inaugurated in Satkhira

National vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign-2024, organized by Satkhira Civil Surgeon Office, was inaugurated at Sadar Hospital in Satkhira on Saturday.   

Satkhira Civil Surgeon Dr Md Abdus Salam, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Sarwar Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Atiqul Islam attended the programme as guests. RMO of Sadar Hospital Dr Faysal Ahmed, Medical Officer of Civil Surgeon office Dr Jayanta Sarkar, Senior Health Education Officer Pulak Chakraborty, Health Superintendent (Acting) of Civil Surgeon Office Abul Kashem and others were also present at that time. 

The guests said vitamin ‘A’ not only saves children from blindness from malnutrition but it also strengthens children’s immune system and reduces the risk of infant mortality. They also said that this vitamin will work to develop a healthy and strong next generation. 

A target was set to feed blue colored vitamin ‘A’ capsules to 27,656 children aged between 6 to 11 months and red colored vitamin ‘A’ capsules to be fed to 230,915 children aged between 12 to 59 months at 1,941 centers in 2 municipalities and 7 Upazilas of Satkhira. A total of 4,880 health workers are helping in this campaign. 

Among them, 1,013 are government health workers and 3,867 are private health workers.
