Vitamin ‘A’Plus campaign begins in Ctg Sep 26

In Chittagong district 12 lakh 68 thousand children will be given vitamin ‘A’ plus capsules this year. The capsule will be fed to 7 lakh 87 thousand and 233 children in 14 upazilas and 4 lakh and 81 thousand children in the metropolis.

This information was given by the District Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi at the information and planning meeting of the two-week long National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign, held in the Office of the Civil Surgeon on Thursday.

He said the two-week long National Vitamin A plus Campaign is starting from September 26 in Chittagong. A total of 88,713 children aged 6-11 months in 14 upazilas of the district will be given one blue vitamin ‘A’ capsule and 6,98,520 children aged 12-59 months will be fed one red vitamin ‘A’ capsule.

Chittagong City Corporation area 41 wards 81,000 children aged 6-11 months will be given one blue Vitamin ‘A’ capsule and 4.5 lakh children aged 12-59 months will be given one red Vitamin ‘A’ capsule.

Chittagong District Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi presided over and District Health Supervisor Sujan Barua conducted the function. Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir was chief guest and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Asif Khan was special guest at the meeting.

District Primary Education Officer Md. Shahidul Islam, Deputy Director of Family Planning Department Dr. Ukhya Win, World Health Organization SMO Dr. Zahidul Islam, and Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Md. Selim Uddin, Airport Health Officer Dr. Shariful Islam and District Police Inspector (DB) Md. Shah Alam was present on this occasion.
