Visitors throng DITF on holiday evening

The month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DIFT) witnessed a massive crowd on its third day Friday as thousands of the city dwellers swarmed the country’s biggest trade show to enjoy the weekend holiday with near and dear ones.
Braving rain and chilly winds, townspeople fled to the trade fair. Some of them are only visiting stalls and pavilions while some of them are passing busy time to collect their desired products.

Visiting the trade fair, it has been witnessed that, due to sudden downpour, some places of fair premises went underwater. Besides, the cold wave hampered the overall situation of the fair. Despite all the adverse situations, visitors, particularly women, teens, and family couples flocked the ticket counters to enter the fair premises at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Friday evening.
Fair organizers said, even though visitors and buyers’ presence were less in the morning, in the early afternoon, fairground filled with all aged peoples. Many of them are saying they have come to trade fair to visit and know the special offers that are being provided by various companies at the fair.

“First two days the fairground was empty but today (Friday) the fair wore a festive look as its public holiday”, one of the members of the fair organizing committee said while talking to journalists there.
Traders were seen passing busy time to sell and promote their goods as different companies tend to showcase their upcoming products in their respective pavilions here.
Traders say in the first few days the fairground remains almost empty but with during holiday they get numerous responses from the people.

According to fair organizing committee statistics, a total of 483 stalls and pavilions, including premium pavilions, foreign pavilions, and mini foreign pavilions, have been accommodated in the fair venue this year.
Sources said traders from over 21 countries, including India, Bhutan, Pakistan, China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Nepal, Japan, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, and the Arab Emirates are participating in the fair.
The fair remains open for visitors from 10 am to 10 pm every day. The entry ticket for an adult is at Tk 40 while it is Tk 20 for children.

The fair is taking place on around 32 acres of land and it is expected to be peaceful throughout the month-long event. Adequate security measures have been taken by the police administration to ensure the safety and security of the visitors, including foreigners.
