Visa on arrival to be eased to attract tourists

To take the country’s tourism industry forward visa on arrival would be simplified. Talks are underway with the Ministry of Home Affairs in this regard so that other nationals could visit Bangladesh very easily. State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali said this in response to questions from journalists after a press conference organised at a hotel in the capital on Sunday.

Mahbub Ali said, “You have already seen that a road has been built in a haor in Kishoreganj which is being visited by a large number of tourists regularly. The master plan recommends how the haor should be laid out. The country has immense potential for tourism. There is a large number of resorts. Resort cannot be constructed by cutting mountains and damaging haors.”

The state minister said that when people of the world will see our lakes, rivers, mountains, sea, tea gardens, Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Cox’s Bazar International Airport, they will be more interested to come here. These will contribute significantly to developing our tourism sector. Due to this step a tourist can come and enjoy the natural beauty of Bangladesh.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mokammel Hossain said that this tourism fair has been organized in an auspicious time. Now the tourism industry is passing through a very bad time. But we have achieved a lot of success in domestic tourism. 

“Huge opportunity has been created through this fair to highlight Bangladesh. We want Bangladesh to move forward. There will be huge potential in the tourism sector in future. We are proceeding according to the rules. Infrastructure constraints are gradually minimizing. Bangladesh will do better in tourism industry in future,” Mokammel Hossain added.

Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation Md Ali Kadar, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Abu Taher Md Jaber, Managing Director of Hotel International Limited Md Aminur Rahman, Bangladesh Services Limited Managing Director Atiqur Rahman, Nepal Embassy in Dhaka Deputy Chief of Mission Kumar Roy, Asian Tourism Fair Chairman Mahiuddin Helal, Director Borhan Uddin, Tourism Resort Industry Association of Bangladesh President Khabiruddin Ahmed, Tourism Developers Association of Bangladesh Chairman Habib Ali and BD Inbound President Rezaul Ikram and others also attended the press conference.
