The coronavirus or Covid-19 has become weaker in Bangladesh with antibodies already developed in a large number of the people, a good sign and hope for the country as well, said experts.
According to experts, coronavirus has become weaker in Bangladesh than it was in the United States and the European countries as strong immunity to the virus has grown in Bangladeshis.
Microbiologist Bijon Kumar Sil, a Covid testing Rapid Dot Blot Kit developer, said that many undocumented people in Bangladesh had already been infected with the novel coronavirus and recovered naturally because they had developed immunity which had been acting as a barrier for COVID-19.
Scientist Bijon, also chairman of microbiology department of Gono Bishwabidyalay, said that he, during tests, found many corona positives with simple pain in the throat and stomach, tastelessness and mild fever, and that they unconsciously defeated the virus, though Americans and Europeans faced acute breathing problems and other complexities.
‘Physical difficulties in many Covid positive patients were even less than those suffered by flu patients,’ he said.
The noted microbiologist pointed out that though a large number of people would be infected by the virus, it would be a reason for causing serious harm to only a few as the virus was gradually becoming weaker after the community developed immunity to the disease.
He suggested that the government conduct an antibody survey to know the number of people who had already developed immunity to the virus and to create a plasma bank for aged patients or patients with other complexities to reduce casualties.
‘If we can provide plasma of a recovered patient to a severely infected patient, it would save lives,’ he said and added that he, during tests, found that the people who recovered from the infection had grown enough and qualitative antibodies that could save the lives of others and weaken the virus.
‘Humidity and temperature may be among some of the supportive elements in our fight against the novel virus,’ he added.
In an interview to an online portal, the scientist claimed that antibodies have already been developed in the bodies of over 5,5 crore people of the country and immunity capacities in the human body are also increasing gradually.
He also opined that people of Bangladesh might be freed from the coronavirus within a few months.
He, however, suggested maintaining health guidelines like the usage of sanitiser, keeping social distance and taking foods which help the growth of immunity capacities in the human body.
As of Friday, a total of 2,18,658 people had been tested positive with coronavirus in Bangladesh, and of them 2,836 died while 1,20,976 had recovered.
Besides, the total number of infected people in the world is 15,177,447, and 6,22,183 of them died while 8, 68,700 people have recovered.
