A village doctor infected with coronavirus has died while undergoing treatment at the isolation centre of Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital in Sylhet. He died at the hospital around 1.30 pm on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kashem (40). His house is in Malpara village of Tilpara union of Beanibazar upazila. He lived in a rented house in Ashirganj Bazar of Badepasha Union in Golapganj upazila.
Upazila Resident Medical Officer Shahinur Islam Shaheen confirmed the matter. He said, “Abul Kashem was a village doctor in Ashirganj Bazar of Badepasha Union in the upazila. Besides, he has pharmacy in this market.”
Abul Kashem was admitted to Sylhet Shamsuddin Hospital around 10pm on Wednesday. Then at half past one in the night the news came that he had died.
His sample was tested corona positive last Tuesday. He came in contact with a corona-infected patient in Tikarbari village of Golapganj municipal area.
