A views exchange meeting was held with the journalists at Reporters Unity in Nilphamari on Thursday evening.

The meeting was presided over by Abu Hasan, Acting President of Reporters Unity while Al-Amin, Secretary of Reporters Unity, Suja Mridha, News Editor of weekly Nilsagar, Raja Ahmed, District Correspondent of The Asian Age, Parvez Uzzal, District Correspondent of Alokito Bangladesh, and others were present at the meeting. Rabiul Hasan Raton, executive director of Village Development Organisation (VDO), delivered the welcome speech. Ajijul Haque, director of Village Development Organisation (VDO), conducted the programme.

VDO mainly conducts its function under the supervision of Bangladesh government but it is patronized by European Union. Its duration was fixed within 2019. But the role of VDO is quite positive in Bangladesh.

This organisation works for the rural people of Bangladesh.  Most of the rural people of Bangladesh are illiterate. They do not have any clear-cut conception about sanitation, good treatment, rights of information etc. In this respect, the organization tries to serves these vital facilities. They encourage the village people to send their children to school. Now they have been able to decrease the number of drooped out students.

However, it is a matter of sorrow that this organisation is going to be closed this year. If it happens, the poor rural people will be deprived of the mentioned facilities.  Therefore, it is expected that the duration of this organisation will be increased.
