Vietnam's national index of industrial production in May increased 3.9 percent against the previous month and 8.9 percent year on year, according to latest data released by the General Statistics Office (GSO).
In the first five months of 2024, the index increased 6.8 percent year on year, said the GSO.
During the cited period, the processing and manufacturing sector went up by 7.3 percent while the electricity production and distribution sector expanded by 12.7 percent. The water supply and waste management sector increased by 6.3 percent.
he mineral exploitation sector reported a year-on-year decline of 5.2 percent during the cited period.
The index of industrial production in the five months increased in 55 localities nationwide and dropped in eight others, said the GSO.
