The ruling Awami League (AL) will announce its election manifesto on December 27 for the January 7 national elections while Jatiya Party has already announced a 24-point election manifesto with a slogan “Change for Peace, Jatiya Party for Change”. Therefore, as the election draws near, candidate nominated by political parties are conducting election campaigns in full swing across the country, making promises to woo voters

Aspirants from the country’s 300 constituencies have geared up their electioneering ahead of the election to woo the voters. Candidates of different political parties including AL and Jatiya Party are promising that they will always stand beside the people.

Their (candidates) motto is to serve people only and they will do everything necessary to get their respective constituencies’ people rid of sufferings. All the candidates are also urging the voters to elect or re-elect them by casting votes in favour of their respective political parties’ symbols to work for the people or complete their unfinished works.

The candidates accompanied by their party workers, leaders and supporters are seen meeting the voters, exchanging greetings with them, and seeking their support. They are seen conducting their election campaigns with posters and leaflets to convince the voters for casting their votes in favour of them from early morning to midnight.

Country’s people are

 not used to hearing

 words but they want

 to see work

The aspirants are also seeking votes through social media platforms, notably Facebook and YouTube, alongside the usual trend of using loudspeakers, banners, and posters. A wave of vibrant black and white election posters of the candidates flooded social media.

All the constituencies of the country wear a new look with posters and banners of different candidates. A festive mood has already generated among the voters.

According to voters, the main competition is likely to take place between the candidates of AL and other party candidates including independent candidates in all the constituencies. A congenial election atmosphere is now prevailing in all the constituencies of the country.

However, it is common ground of grause that some political leaders usually do not keep up their commitments  given during poll campaign and even they do not visit the grassroots people after the vote. Many voters said they would not elect any leader who did not fulfil his or her promises and commitments. So, the candidates must focus on fulfilling their electoral pledges.

With only 13 days left before the national election, we think the candidates who will win the poll, will implement the electoral pledges, based on which they will assume power.

People are now more conscious and believe in work and not in words. So, the country’s people are not used to hearing words but they want to see work.
