Veteran actor Sattar passes away

The name of a milestone movie in the history of Dhaka cinema is ‘Rangin Rupban’. Actor Sattar got immense popularity all over the country with this film. This veteran actor as left this world for the land of no return.

The actor died at his home in Narayanganj on Tuesday (August 4) at 6 pm (Innalillahi Wainna Ilahi Raziun).

Khorshed Alam Khasru, president of the producers’ association, confirmed this information.

Actor Sattar was irregular in cinema for a long time. He last acted in FI Manik’s ‘Chachchu Amar Chachchu’. Sattar played the role of Dighi’s father in it.

Sattar’s wife Kakoli told the media that Sattar suffered three strokes in 2012, 2015 and 2016. Since then he has become paralyzed also he suffered from multiple diseases. Especially for the last two years, Sattar had been lying in bed. Six years ago,  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave him a grant of Tk 30 lakh. Sattar used this money for his medical treatment and family.

According to his last wish, actor Sattar will be buried in the family graveyard in Rupganj area of Narayanganj.

Sattar’s first appearance in the film was in 1968. He had great success in folk movies. He played the role of a child artist in Ibn Mizan’s ‘Amir Saudagar O Velua Sundari’. The incident of becoming a hero came much later.

He has acted in more than one hundred fifty films.

In his long career, Sattar was the hero of many super hit actresses starting from Shabana to Rozina, Anju, Jinat, Kobita, Olivia, Rani. The cinema scene is mourning his death.
