The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Sunday concluded its hearing in crimes against humanity case against five alleged Razakars from Gaibandha and will pronounce judgment any day, reports BSS. The five accused are: Md Ranju Miah, Md Abdul Jabbar Mondol, Md Jachijar Rahman alias Khoka, Md Abdul Wahed Mondol and Md Montaz Ali Bepari. Of the five, only Ronju is behind bars and all other accused were tried in absentia.

Justice Md Shahinur Islam, chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, kept the verdict on CAV, curia advisari vult (a Latin legal term meaning the court awaits judgement), as the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments in the case. The ICT-1 on May 17, 2018, framed four charges of crimes against humanity against the accused including abduction, confinement, torture and murder. All the accused were supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami and later joined Razakar Bahini as the war began in 1971.
